THE MINIATURES You may have noticed the recent trend in museums and galleries toward larger and larger prints. The idea seems to be the bigger the print, the bigger the impact. The size, of course, also influences price, and galleries like those big sales. They help with the overhead. Despite this trend toward bigness, some collectors continue to specialize in miniature prints, and I find them challenging. Making a statement in a small space, I believe, takes more skill and gives more satisfaction than producing yardage. And as a general rule, small prints are easier on the pocketbook than large ones. |
