HIS FIRST COMMAND
Moses started down the Nile
Wearing diapers and a smile.
No one told him what to do.
He was captain, cook and crew.
But certainly his fate was cast.
He had no rudder, sail or mast,
And lacking all a sailor needs,
He ended stranded in the reeds.
But Oh, what a blessing it would be
Had he made it out to sea.

A FATHER’S COMPLAINT
It’s true, our Betsy turned to drink,
But it’s not the kind that you might think.
She buys her water by the case
And takes it with her everyplace.
With modern life so rich and various,
Who would guess she’s choose Aquarius
And gad about carrying water?
She must be someone else’s daughter.
When stepping stately down the aisle
She held her bottle all the while,
And within the time the rite allows,
She took five swigs between her vows.
And when a child at last appeared,
She said exactly what I feared,
“The christening will soon begin.
We’re going to call him Gunga Din.”
