PLAY IT SAFE

Remember, things that go bump in the night
Do so only to cause a fright,
And if you can't explain it, the worst thing at most
Is that what you heard was simply a ghost.
Please don't panic and don't have a fit.
Just get slowly out of bed and then crawl under it.

TEST YOUR APHORISM

Lucille McPherson of Seattle, Washington, wonders about "The greatest houses have the most closets."

She writes: "I confess to a creative pride in it, but there is the nagging question of originality. If someone beat me to it, I'd like to know it."

PINES, BAYS & CLIFFS is my most recent print. It's a drypoint on a 20 by 15-inch zinc plate, inked with a mix of vine black and etcher's yellow and printed on Japanese Kitakata paper laid down chine colle on French Reeves BFK. It's being printed in an edition of 25 and being offered at $350.00.

TEST YOUR APHORISM

Here's one of mine: "Hell is where everyone tells the truth."

The aphorisms seem to be sparking more interest than anything else in "What's New?" Perhaps aphorism people are either avidly interested or not interested at all.

Anyhow, we've been doing this for just two weeks and we've already had responses from Chicago, Illinois, and Taos, New Mexico. I think that's – well, avid.

So if I shouldn't claim the above as original, I'm sure someone will tell me.
